The girls were dancing machines at Jamie's cousin, Erin's, wedding. Harper danced with EVERYONE - kids, adults, even the groomsmen. Erin and Ava share the same birthday, October 2nd.

On the first day of school, the girls jumped right out of bed (even Harper) because they were so excited for their first day. They were both refreshed from the fight the night before about who got to wear the pink shirt. On the first day, the girls met their teachers, played on the playground, completed a drawing or painting activity in their classrooms, unloaded their supplies, picked their favorite folders to begin the year with, and got their pictures taken by Lifetouch. It's nice to have pictures taken on the first day b/c parents can see and approve what they're ordering. It took them about 15 tries on Harper because she couldn't get that smile just right. In other words, mom didn't approve. So I spent open house day meeting my 28 students' parents, and running back and forth between the ELC and kindergarten rooms.

Since school has began, the girls have enjoyed bringing their lunches to school, and on occasion, eating school lunch. One day I was in another classroom when Harper's class was walking out to recess. She didn't see me standing there, but I got to see her poking the boy in front of her! Recess is her favorite thing about school. She plays with Myia, Jacob, and Brooks. They play "mean guys." They have to run and go in the tunnel...Hmmmm, I'm not so sure about that game - the old 'cops and robbers'? Harper is excited about the projects she brings home - especially the color crayon song they learned to sing. She's learning to sing the days of the week, and every time she gets to Tuesday, she says, "Remember when I danced with Tuesday? That was fun." Tuesday is a 22 year old girl who danced with Harper at Boyceville Picklefest (after midnight!). Now she's obsessed with Tuesday, and wants her to come over and play. Ava comes home with lots of stories. Her favorite thing about school is baking. She is excited that her friends Mya and Chrissa are in her class this year. Ava says the boys are sometimes naughty, so the girls got moved, and now she's "in charge of" the boys at her table! The kindergarteners are even talking about BFFs??? Where do they learn this stuff? A couple of kids in Ava's class call Mr. Day, the phy. ed teacher, Mr. Dave or Jim (gym). For some odd reason, Ava LOVES when she gets to ride the school bus to Karen's house.
